Micron reports record fiscal Q1 results as AI-driven memory demand lifts revenue and cash flow

Micron Technology reported record results for the first quarter of fiscal 2026, pointing to surging demand for memory and storage products tied to AI and data center growth. In its earnings release, the company said quarterly revenue reached $13.64 billion, up from $8.71 billion in the same period a year earlier and higher than the prior quarter’s $11.32 billion.

The company posted GAAP net income of $5.24 billion, or $4.60 per diluted share, and highlighted major gains in operating cash flow, which rose to $8.41 billion. Management described broad-based margin expansion, saying performance improved at the company level and across business units as product mix and pricing strengthened.

CEO Sanjay Mehrotra said Micron’s outlook for the second quarter implied substantial records across revenue, gross margin, earnings per share and free cash flow, and the company expects business momentum to strengthen through fiscal 2026. Micron positioned its roadmap and product portfolio — including high-performance offerings needed for advanced computing — as central to meeting customer demand.

Micron also emphasized investment plans intended to support growing needs for memory and storage, describing its role as an “AI enabler.” That message reflects the industry’s current imbalance between demand and supply for leading-edge components used in large-scale AI training and inference, where memory capacity and bandwidth can be as critical as compute.

For investors and customers, the quarter reinforced two themes: first, that AI-related workloads are reshaping the economics of the memory market; second, that suppliers with the ability to deliver cutting-edge products at scale may sustain stronger profitability even as broader semiconductor cycles continue. Micron said it expects its operational execution and technology leadership to keep it positioned to capture demand as the fiscal year progresses.
