Nvidia invests $2 billion in CoreWeave to speed U.S. AI data-center buildout
Nvidia is deepening its ties with AI cloud provider CoreWeave with a $2 billion investment priced at $87.20 per share. The expanded partnership aims to accelerate construction of large-scale U.S. AI data centers, as demand for computing power, land and electricity becomes a central bottleneck for the industry.

Nvidia said it is investing $2 billion in CoreWeave, escalating a partnership that has become closely watched as the AI boom shifts from chip shortages to infrastructure constraints like power, land and grid access. The purchase is priced at $87.20 per share, and the companies said the money and the broader deal are designed to speed development of AI-focused data centers in the United States.

CoreWeave is part of a growing group of so-called “neocloud” providers that specialize in supplying the hardware and cloud capacity used to build, run and deploy AI systems. These companies have benefited from surging demand as tech firms and enterprises push AI into products and internal operations, driving an arms race for GPU-backed compute.
Under the expanded collaboration, Nvidia and CoreWeave said they plan to accelerate the buildout of more than 5 gigawatts of AI data center capacity by 2030. That target reflects the scale of next-generation AI workloads, where the limiting factor is increasingly not just chips but the ability to house them, power them and cool them reliably.
Nvidia framed the investment as a vote of confidence in CoreWeave’s strategy and as a way to align infrastructure, software and platform roadmaps. The companies said they will work together more closely on deploying multiple Nvidia technology generations, and on standardizing configurations intended to shorten time from site selection to operational capacity.
The announcement highlights a broader shift in the AI economy: capital is flowing toward industrial-scale compute deployment, and chipmakers are increasingly willing to use financing and partnership structures to influence where their platforms are installed. That approach also gives GPU suppliers stronger visibility into future demand and capacity planning.
Investors and analysts have paid close attention to CoreWeave’s rapid growth and its heavy spending on expansion. Supporters argue that scale and speed can create an enduring advantage, while skeptics question whether debt, construction delays or power constraints could pressure financial performance if demand fluctuations emerge.
For Nvidia, the deal reinforces its ecosystem strategy: keep GPU demand high by ensuring customers can actually obtain and use compute at massive scale. For CoreWeave, the investment bolsters credibility with partners and could help unlock the practical requirements—sites, electricity, and infrastructure buildout—that determine whether AI capacity targets are realistic.
